About Addabill

Somewhere in your house there's a dentist statement. It came on paper, in a window envelope, and it's the only bill you get that way, so it lives nowhere. Not in your email. Not in an app. Not on the calendar with the electric and the rent. It's on the counter under two catalogs, and it's due on the 9th.

Household mail sorted into three small stacks on a wooden kitchen counter beside a window.

The envelope

Addabill started with that envelope. Not with a mission, with a question: why does one bill get to hide just because it arrived through a different door? Every house has one. For you it might be the orthodontist, or the HOA, or the county sending a paper notice once a year. The bill keeper knows about it, in the way you know where you left your keys. Right up until the late fee.

What we believe

Here is the one thing we believe about bills, and it's why the app looks the way it does. The problem was never the money. The problem is time. A bill costs one amount on the day it's due and more on the day after, and the whole job of keeping a house on time is knowing which day is which, for a dozen billers at once, across email, paper and apps that each think they're the only one you have. So Addabill is a calendar first. One month, every bill standing on its day, and a text to your phone before each one is due.

What Addabill never does

That belief is also why there's a list of things Addabill will never do.

  • It never pays a bill for you; you tap through to your biller's own page and pay there, same as before.
  • It never asks you to connect an account or hand over a login to wherever your money lives, because a calendar doesn't need to see a balance.
  • It never adds a fee to anything. Household is $5 a month or $40 a year, and that price is the whole of what you'd ever pay us.
  • It never lends you anything, and it never grades the way you pay.

It's a calendar with a text. That's the whole idea, and we intend to keep it that small.

ADDABILL EVERY BILL ON ITS DAY

"The problem was never the money. The problem is time."

The bill keeper

We built it for a specific person, and you probably know who that is at your place. The one who put the phone plan on autopay, watched it draft two days before payday, and got an overdraft fee for being on time. The one whose fridge has a sticky note that says WATER 2ND, which worked well until it slid behind the toaster. The one with eight to fifteen billers and a very good memory that still slipped once this year. That person doesn't need a lecture or a chart. They need to know what's due, and to hear about it first.

Addabill Inc.

Addabill Inc. is new. The company is in Dallas, at 4201 Spring Valley Rd, the app is the first thing we've made, and there's no founding story worth telling beyond the envelope on the counter. We'd rather say that plainly than dress it up. What we can offer is the calendar, the texts, and the short list of things we'll never do, and we'd like you to hold us to all three.
